Highly skilled, job creating, taxpaying immigrant? We don't want you here!
South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs is deterring skilled immigration at a great cost to South Africa, says En-novate Global Director Dan Brotman.
He recently penned an article, published in Business Day, entitled “I’m not wanted in SA”.
Skilled immigrants are treated poorly in South Africa, says Brotman, an American-born Israeli entrepreneur based in Johannesburg.
Brotman applied for South African citizenship in April 2016.
He is still waiting, and now questions his future in this country.
Brotman has taken hundreds of South African business overseas, providing them with exposure for global expansion, in addition to creating jobs for South Africans.
He works with South Africa’s largest companies.
He’s lived – and produced – here for eight years.
He pays taxes.
But we don’t want him.
